Polesia in Winter (part III).  Палесьсе ўзімку (частка III).

Now 85, Grandfather Ivan finds the cold and heavy snows of 2012 difficult to bear.  Yet he insists on working, using this sled throughout the day to haul heavy loads of feed up the hill to the barn housing the family cow and sheep.

The Extraordinary in the “Ordinary”:  Hands XIII.  Надзвычайнае ў “звычайным“:  рукі (частка XIII).

Hard-working, protective, guiding.  Yet ever graceful and always in their proper place.  I think Belarusan hands reveal most eloquently Belarusans’ distinctive and instinctive traditions and attachment to place.

Працавітыя, абараняльныя, ды навучальныя але абавязкова зграбныя, дбайныя, і, як заўсёды, складзеныя належным чынам. На мой погляд, рукі найбольш красамоўна сведчаць пра адметныя беларускія традыцыі, адметны беларускі код росту і пачуццё месца.

Polesia in Winter (part I).  Палесьсе ўзімку (частка І).

The Pripet Marshes of Polesia (in Belarusian Paljes’sje – Палесьсе) follow the course of the Pripet River (in Belarusian Prypjats’ – Прыпяць), roughly along the 52nd Parallel.  Winters can therefore be plenty cold and snowy, but they are not so harsh as winters in northern Belarus.

Preparing for a performance, Tsjerablichy kindergarten 2011.  Падрыхтоўка дзіцячага садка да імпрэзы, Цераблічы 2011 год.

On October 14 the kindergarteners in Tsjerablichy performed songs and dances in honor of their mothers and motherhood.
