The glow of mid-April light in Belarus brings one a sense of calm:  dawn is now much earlier and the evening light lingers longer each day; the tail end of winter is now definitely behind one.

A photo from 2001.  Given the type of development which the authorities have promoted since then, it gets more difficult each day to find views of Mjensk which give one a sense of the city’s thousand-year history.  For the heavy impact of development see, for example, the photo of the day for December 19, 2012, which shows a late 2012 view just to the left of this photo.
