The oak is sacred to Belarusians.
This pair of oaks, here rimed on a cold January morning, stands watch in a field by the busy R58 road, 25 miles north of Mjensk. The R58 leads through Mjadzjel’ to the Blue Lakes (Блакітныя азёры) in northwestern Mjensk Region, some 85 miles north of Mjensk.
