Homage to the Central Prypjats’ III/Паклон Сярэдняй Прыпяці (Частка ІII)

The industrious, children-filled villages of the central Prypjats’ region in southern Belarus belie the commonplace that villages throughout Europe are dying.  These villages radiate vitality, prosperity, generosity and hope while ensuring, as strongly as any other places I’ve ever visited, that their traditions — under unremitting pressure for the past century — thrive and are passed on to succeeding generations.  Even the outsider feels that he is coming home when entering this region.  A smile and a bow in gratitude to these villages and their inhabitants.

Працавітыя, поўныя дзяцей вёскі цэнтральнай Прыпяці абвяргаюць звыклае меркаваньне пра тое, што ўсе вёскі Еўропы гінуць. Гэтыя вёскі сьвецяцца жыццём, дабрабытам, шчодрасьцю і надзеяй і адначасова клапоцяцца – так старанна, як у любым іншым месцы, куды я трапляў, і нягледзячы на зацятае супрацьстаяньне апошнага стагоддзя – пра росквіт сваіх традыцый і іх захаваньне наступнымі пакаленьнямі. Нават староньні чалавек адчувае сябе, як дома, калі прыяжджае ў гэтыя мясьціны. Усьмешка і паклон удзячнасьці гэтым вёскам ды іх жыхарам.
