Photos of the Day for July 24, 2016

To Tsjerablichy in Polesia via Stoubtsy (R11 road to Njas’vizh), Njas’vizh (Vuzhanka), Kljetsk (Ruda), Hantsavichy (Kukava, Raz’dzjalavichy, Khatynichy), Pinsk (Dabraslauka, Mokraja Dubrava, Lahishyn, Akhova, Kaladzjejevichy, Bjarozavichy (Parshavichy), Sadovy, Pinsk, Mjestkavichy) and Stolin (Fjadory, Bjelavusha, Davyd-Haradok) Districts, spring 2016.

Twice during the spring of 2016 I followed a roundabout route to Tsjerablichy in order to photograph previously unvisited churches and other sites as well as re-photograph a cemetery which had been obscured by snow during the photo expedition with chairman of the Belarusian Society for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments Anton Astapovich (see photos of the day for April 22, 2016).

Churches of Belarus (part CLXXVI):  Orthodox church of the Holy Trinity (1905), Bjelavusha.  A fine development of the style found in the churches of Mestkavichy (photos of the day for July 22, 2016), Bjarozavichy (photos of the day for July 19, 2016), and Parakhonsk (photos of the day for April 27, 2016) in Polesia as well as Jodchytsy (Kljetsk District; photos of the day for June 15, 2016) and Slabodka (Stoubtsy District; photos of the day for March 28, 2015) among others.

Churches of Belarus (part CLXXVII):  Orthodox church of St. George (end 17th-early 18th centuries), Davyd-Haradok.  A classic example of Polesian wooden church architecture, St. George’s is one of the oldest surviving wooden churches in Belarus.  See also the photo of the day for May 6, 2013.
