To mark the 40th day since the August 19 death of Hjenadz’ Shutau, whom a so-far publicly unnamed member of the regime’s enforcement squads, unprovoked, shot in the back of the head at close range in Bjeras’tsje on August 11, 2020. In the Belarusian Orthodox tradition families and friends of the deceased hold a commemorative service (panikhida) on the fortieth day after the death to help the deceased’s soul reach heaven.
