Equivalent to the western Christian feast of the Epiphany, the Theophany (Baptism of Christ), celebrated on January 19, is one of the 12 major feasts in the Orthodox liturgical calendar. The five-and-a-half hour service is always heavily attended in Azdamichy.
Do I understand correctly from the photographs that there is no heat in that church? What about other ones?
There’s a very efficient stove in the Azdamichy church and all other churches have either wood-burning stoves or, in some cases, gas-fired heating. Even the unfinished church in Tsjerablichy has a well-functioning (and very hot) stove.
