Churches of Belarus (part XXVI). Цэрквы Беларусі (частка XXVI).
Orthodox Church of the Birth of the Blessed Mother of God, Ljemjashevichy 2013. Царква Прасьвятой Багародзіцы, Лемяшэвічы 2013 год.
The wooden churches of Belarus, both Orthodox and Roman Catholic, are an especially valuable part of the country’s architectural patrimony. It is a great fortune that the Orthodox church in Ljemjashevichy, dating from 1893, still has its original cupolas. Unfortunately, some of the wooden Orthodox churches have had their original cupolas substituted by garish, gold-painted Moscow-style onion domes which have nothing to do with the patrimony or vernacular traditions of Belarus.
