Women of Polesia (part XXXVIII). Паляшучкі (частка XXXVIII).
Now bypassed by the main road from Stolin to Pinsk, the central Pripet village of Radchytsk maintains the quiet dignity it inherited from the branch of the great Skirmunt family which owned the village in the first half of the 19th century.
Attracted by Radchytsk’s stately, domed neo-classical Orthodox church of the Birth of the Holy Mother of God and its active parish, I attended the church’s name day feast on September 21, 2012. This lady, the ladies whose portraits appeared as the photo of the day for November 23, 2012, and the lady whose portrait will appear on February 18 are but four of the many wonderful members of the parish I met that day.
