An example of two polar opposite forces in Belarus: destruction of Belarusian patrimony by the current authorities versus the new birth of Christian faith.
On the left is (was) he House of Kudzin (Dom Kudzina – Дом Кудзіна), a fine example of vernacular art nouveau, built at the very beginning of the 20th century by a doctor named Kudzin. During the late Soviet occupation the authorities used the building as the district library; in 1992 the authorities opened the district history museum in the building. In 2019 the local authorities refused to permit the bolstering of the structure and proceeded to destroy this uncommon architectural element of Belarus’ heritage.
On the right is the Roman Catholic church of the Raising of the Holy Cross, completed after 2008 to replace the 1799-1800 wooden church of the same name which the occupying Soviet authorities had destroyed in the 1930s.
Яскравы прыклад дзвюх супрацьлегліх сіл: знішчэньне беларускай спадчыны бягучымі ўладамі й новае нараджэньне хрысьціянскай веры.
З левага боку былы Дом Кудзіна, узор дойлідства ў стылі народна-мясцовага мадэрну (каля 1900 г.). Падчас позняй савецкай акупацыі ўлады разьмясцілы раённую бібліятэку ў будынку. У 1992 улады адкрылі там раённы краязнаўчы музэй. У 2019 мясцовыя ўлады адмовіліся зацьвердзіць праект умацаваньня падмуркі й апорных сьцен й зьнішчылі гэты рэдкі будынак.
З правага боку касьцэл Узвышэньня Сьвятога Крыжа, дабудован пасьля 2008 г., каб замяніць драўляны касьцёл (1799-1800 гг.), які савецкія акупацыйныя сілы зьнішчылі ў 1930-ых. Et resurrexit ecclesia in Albaruthenae!
