Photo of the Day for January 21, 2011

To commemorate the birthday of Belarusan patriot Vincent-Constantine (Kastus’) Kalinouski (January 21, 1838 by the Julian calendar still used then in the lands under Russian imperial occupation; February 2 by the Gregorian calendar).  Kalinouski was hanged by the Russians in March 1864 as one of the leaders of the ill-fated 1863-64 uprising against the Russian Empire.
