Waiting for the cows, Tsjerablichy 2012. Пакуль каровы ідуць дадому, Цераблічы 2012 год.
Owning a cow means the work day begins at or before dawn and ends after sunset: milking twice a day, feeding, mucking out. Yet given the importance of milk and milk products in the Belarusian diet, every village household that can keep a cow does so. Waiting for the cows to come home in the evening is a time for older folks to chat, for kids to show how responsible they are, for a last madcap spin on one’s bike before dark.
