March 25 is the most popular for-now-unofficial date to celebrate Belarusian Independence Day. On this Freedom Day (Dzjen’ voli — Дзень волі) many Belarusians commemorate the March 25, 1918 date of the declaration of the unfortunately short-lived Belarusian National (or Belarusian Popular) Republic.
In addition several dates from summer and early winter 1990-91 mark the progress of Belarus’ liberation from Soviet occupation. One of these dates is July 27, when from 1992-96 Belarus officially celebrated the 1990 declaration of state sovereignty by the Supreme Soviet of the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Акрамя Дня волі хочацца таксама віншаваць з Днём беларускага дзяржаўнага суверэнітэту.
