The parish of the Holy Trinity in Azdamichy and Tsjerablichy celebrates its name-day feast over three days, culminating in the major church service on Trinity Tuesday.
Here parish priest Father Aljaksandr’s middle son tends a candle holder. Each of several candle holders in an Orthodox church holds beeswax candles lit in memory of parishioners’ forebears. The candles generate substantial heat and tending the candle holder requires alertness to straighten wilting candles, extinguish stubs, remove dripped wax, and continually seat new candles.
