Photo of the Day for March 25, 2022

In honor of the Belarusian nation’s annual March 25 celebration of Will to Freedom Day, a celebration not recognized by the current regime.  Belarus lives!

З нагоды Дня волі.  Жыве Беларусь!

The Belarusian nation’s celebration on March 25 commemorates the proclamation of the Belarusian Popular Republic (BNR) on March 25, 1918.  Bolshevik occupiers under Russian Bolshevik control terminated the BNR in January 1919.   The eastern two-thirds of the Belarusian lands were then Anschlussed into the Soviet Union in 1922; the western third of Belarusian lands, incorporated into the interwar Second Polish Republic, were occupied by the Soviet Union in 1939 when Stalin allied with Hitler and from the east supported Germany’s invasion of Poland.
