To commemorate All Souls’ Day. Ва ўспамін усіх памерлых вернікаў.
All Souls’ Day, when Roman Catholics pay homage at family graves, coincides with the Belarusian pre-Christian rite of Dzjady (Дзяды), which falls at the end of October or beginning of November. Dzjady is a central observance in the Belarusian cycle of the year. Families honor their forefathers with a meal at graveside or a special meal at home, where they lay a place-setting for the departed.
