Procession, Feast of the Dormition, Rubjel’ 2012. Хросны ход, сьвяток Усьпеньня, Рубель 2012 год.
Towards the end of the feast-day liturgy the priests lead a procession three times around the church. In the Orthodox tradition processions move counter-clockwise (in the Roman Catholic tradition clockwise). During the third circuit the procession stops four times — symbolizing the main points of the cross — for readings from the Gospels and sprinkling of holy water. After reading from the Gospel the priest touches the heads of parishioners with the Bible.
