The morning service on Holy and Great Saturday, commemorating the entombment of Christ and His harrowing of hell, centers on the Epitaphios (Plashchanitsa — Плашчаніца), a cloth icon of the Lamentation. In Azdamichy Father Aljaksandr places the Plashchanitsa on a table toward the rear of the nave. At the end of the service, Father Aljaksandr bears the icon above his head in a procession which circles the church three times. After the service parishioners help Father Aljaksandr clean the church in preparation for the all-night Easter service.
