Vauzhetski was an ardent advocate for the Polish Commonwealth’s constitution of 1791. He fought in and, after the capture of Tadevush Kas’tsjushka (Kosciuszko), headed the rebellion of 1794 against Russian imperial occupation of the Commonwealth until captured and imprisoned by Russian imperial forces. He then evolved into a supporter of the Russian empire; a year before his death, was made a senator by Tsar Paul I.
