Mirroring the feast day itself as well as the feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas on February 2 in the west, Sretsjen’nje Haspodnjaje on February 15 in Eastern Orthodoxy), two mothers bring their newborns to have Father Aljaksandr present them to the Lord.

Father Aljaksandr presents the newborn son to the Lord at the royal (central) doors of the ikonostasis and then, because he is a boy, carries him into the sanctuary and around the altar.
