In the Orthodox liturgical calendar Trinity and Pentecost are celebrated on the same Sunday, seven weeks after Orthodox Easter, thus June 3 in 2012. The central Polesian parish of the Holy Trinity in Azdamichy and Tsjerablichy celebrates its annual name-day feast on Trinity Tuesday, but the church is always crowded for the Trinity Sunday liturgy as well.
Surrounded by church light beyond time and the rhythms of a liturgy beyond time, one is moved by the simple reverence with which a grandmother guides her grandchildren in the ways of our faith.
