Maladjel’chytsy 2012. Маладзельчыцы 2012 год.
This village was another example of a njerush (неруш – unexpected, wondrous discovery). Under a tight schedule I was rushing to make it to Bjeraztsy, an isolated village along the Pripet (Prypjats’) River which the map showed as having what would undoubtedly be a beautiful, older church. With several kilometers still to go along a rut- and pool-filled soft sandy road, I happened to glance off to the right. Maladzjel’chytsy sat there with thatched roof after thatched roof and storks galore. It was impossible to resist the pull of this enchanted village. Bjeraztsy would have to wait.
