One of the seats of the noble Skirmunt family, Parechcha in Pinsk District was the site of the Skirmunts’ woolen mill, sugar refinery, and distillery. These factories, the leading industrial complex of the times in Polesia, were held up as exemplars of industrial innovation and efficiency in the Russian empire. Raman Skirmunt, an outstanding Belarusian patriot, was murdered here by order of the Soviet invaders/occupiers in October 1939.

The new church is a close copy of the 1912 church, which burned down in 2000. I took the photo with a 1938 soft-focus Thambar lens.
