Last thoughts of winter: photo expedition to Dauhinau and Kryvichy (I/XII) 2016: river Vjacha near Papjernja.
At the time I took these photos, the stretch between Rakhman’ki and Papjernja on the main R58 road from Mjensk north to Mjadzel was narrow, crowded as it dipped toward and then rose from the narrow valley of the river Vjacha. Since one needed to concentrate on the road, it was easy to miss the beauty of the river’s course through a copse off the east side of the road. On this December morning, however, the light bouncing through and sparkling off the ice-covered trees caught my eye.
Note from 2018: this view was obliterated with the extension of the divided highway north from Mjensk toward Mjadzjel.
