Since the Soviet re-occupation of Mjensk in mid-1944, the city has witnessed the continual destruction of its architectural patrimony and historic urban fabric. The recently-completed project to conserve and restore the Kitchen Factory in the heart of Mjensk has been a most welcome exception.
