Dzjakshnjany 2019.
On a photo excursion through southeastern Maladzjechna District, we headed to Dzjakshnjany, a small village 20 miles/30 kilometers northwest of Mjensk. The village is the site of the former estate and manor house of the Valadkovich family. The Soviet authorities seized the estate when, together with the Nazi Germans, they invaded Poland (which then included this portion of the Belarusian lands) in September 1939.

Былы сядзібны дом Валадковічаў.
As we looked at the manor house, current owner Mrs. Vanda (born 1940) kindly invited us in for tea. She quietly recounted her life story, her years of labor on the local collective farm, and her faith and joy as a member of the Roman Catholic parish of the Holy Trinity in nearby Radashkovichy.
