Churches of Belarus (part CLVIX):  Roman Catholic church of the Archangel Michael (1900-1910).  This church is an elegant copy of the 18th-century Vilnius baroque style.

Synagogue (1912?  Closed in 1940).  The Ashmjany synagogue is one of the most striking of the surviving synagogue buildings in Belarus.  The Nazi Germans destroyed two synagogues during their occupation of the Belarusian lands; many synagogues were destroyed, misused or left to rot by the Soviet regime or in the period since 1991.   This building, turned into a warehouse by the Soviet regime and remaining so today, has suffered the same fate as countless churches, which also were turned into warehouses, workshops, cinemas or recreational facilities by the Soviet regime.
