Architecture in Harodnja (Grodno) 2016, part VIII/X: “New World” (Novy s’vjet): Viljenskaja Street
Viljenskaja Street is included within the area of Harodnja known as “New World” (Novy s’vjet), but its buildings remain an eclectic mix of urban styles from the end of the 19th century to the post-World War I years. Judging by the architecture, the neighborhood remained heavily Jewish, whereas much of the rest of New World was built in the functionalist or Zakopane style we have been featuring in this series on Harodnja.
