A few former estate manor houses in the Belarusian lands remain intact or, as in Bjanjuny, are being restored. Most estate complexes, however, have met a sad fate: some were destroyed in World War I; many were burned down by Soviet partisans in World War II or ruined when the Soviet authorities incorporated them into collective farms; and others have moldered under the active neglect of the authorities since 1994.
