Mahiljou 2016 (I/IV).
Despite destruction of major architectural monuments by the late Russian imperial and Soviet regimes, Mahiljou retains a worthy architectural patrimony. A short, late-August visit in search of hand-embroidered fabrics provided the opportunity for a photo survey of buildings on the middle stretch of Vjalikaja Sadovaja (Vjetranaja) Street, currently known as Leninskaja (see photos of the day for July 28, 2015 for views of buildings along the southern portion of Vjalikaja Sadovaja). I look forward to a longer visit and a much more extensive photo survey of Mahiljou’s architecture.

Ня гледзячы на разбурэньне шматлікіх сьвятыняў ды манастыраў расейскай імперскай і савецкай уладамі, Магілёў захоўвае архітэктурную спадчыну, вартую ўвагі й аховы. Хуткае наведваньне ў жніўні дазваляла здымаць дойлідства сярэдняй часткі вул. Вялікай Садовай (Ветранай), зараз вул. Ленінскай (гл. дойлідства паўднёвай часткі гэтай вуліцы ў фотаздымках дня 28 ліпеня 2015 г.). Абавязкова трэба ехаць на даўжэйшую фотавандроўку па спадчыне ў Магілёве.
This late constructivist apartment building caught my eye, and I snapped two quick photos as I waited at a traffic light on the way to Vjalikaja Sadovaja. According to the excellent Belarusian blogger darriuss (http://darriuss.livejournal.com/696957.html), the building dates from 1938.
