Churches of Belarus (part CDXCVIII): Orthodox church of the Holy Trinity, Mir.
Ruined patrimony.
This originally-Baroque church has felt the brunt of two centuries of Russian imperial and Muscovite caesaro-papist occupation: in 1824 the Greek-Catholic Basilian Order in charge of the church was disbanded by the imperial Russian occupiers; in 1873-75 as part of the empire’s severe Russification campaign after the abortive 1863-64 Uprising the authorities rebuilt the church in the retrospective Russian style; and several years ago the parish replaced the traditional blue domes (second photo) with vulgar and alien-to-the-Belarusian-tradition golden onion domes.

Пасьля раньнейшых перамены пад акупацыяй расейскай імперыі (скасаваньне базыльянскага манастыра ў 1824 г. й капітальная перабудова барочнай царквы ў псеўдарускі стыль у 1873-75 гг.) некалька гадоў таму прыход замяніў традыцыйныя блакітныя бунькі (другі здымак) на пошлыя, чужыя беларускаму дойлідству бліскучыя цыбуліны.
