Churches of Belarus (part CCLXXVIII): Old Believer church of the Dormition (c. 1935).
Mas’tsishcha is one of the farthest-west places of settlement by Old Believers in Belarus; according to actor and author Juryj Zhygamont, the men of Mas’tsishcha were renowned wheelwrights.

Old Believer churches normally hew to a conservative ecclesiatical architectural tradition. It is thus notable to find that this church incorporates — in the shape of the narthex/belltower — prominent elements of functionalism and the developing national style of the late 1920s into the 1930s in the Second Polish Republic. Compare the narthex/belltower of the Roman Catholic church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1927-29) in Dajlidki (Daukshyshki).
