The Orthodox parish in Rubjel’ in Polesia’s Central Prypjats’ area is exceptionally vibrant: Rubjel’ was one of several villages in the Stolin District which successfully resisted grinding efforts by the Soviet regime to persecute the faithful and close the local church. Rubjel’ is also the home village of many of the most active and respected Orthodox parish priests in Belarus.
