The explosion of mosquitoes after 2013’s snowy winter and wet spring made May excursions to favorite spots — such as the open oak grove in Panjamon’ — impossible to enjoy. Retreating from the grove to Panjamon’ village gave one just enough breathing room from the ravenous mosquitoes to allow a brief chat with Anatol’ about his bench: “Each man according to his own fantasy,” he said laconically. His dog, beset by mosquitoes (visible as white dots in the photo), leapt into his lap to join the portrait.

Great portrait, Dad!!! And that’s horrendous about the mosquitoes – I thought they were bad enough here but they didn’t show up in photos this summer. Yikes!
