Note the boat-shaped pulpit, a symbol of the Church (the Bark of Peter) and also an allusion to the October 7, 1571 Battle of Lepanto in which the fleet of the Holy League defeated the Ottoman navy. This was the victory subsequently commemorated on October 7 as the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Fresco commemorating the Miracle on the Vistula, the Polish army’s victory over the invading Bolshevik army on the feast of the Assumption (August 15) in 1920. This victory stopped the westward advance of Bolshevism and led to the 1921 Treaty of Riga in which the western Belarusian lands were incorporated into the second Polish Republic.
